A new spirit is sweeping over this earth. It is the insidious spirit of a dangerous form of self-imposed naivety.An enticing spirit that compels us to accept for truth anything and everything we read in the newspaper, see on TV, hear in some churches, ingest at the university, receive in the mail … simply because it’s there … with no thought of questioning the credibility of the source.

Whatever is politically correct; whatever is espoused by certain celebrities and sports figures; whatever our politicians tell us; whatever is “hip, in and groovy” at the time … these are the latest mantras, proving the depth of gullibility humans have fallen to as a culture, even though the Scriptures clearly tell them, “Beloved, do not trust every spirit but TEST the spirits to see whether they belong to God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1 NAB)

It is understandable why the world culture acts in this way, but those who profess to be Christians should fight against such things. Unfortunately, they are not doing so. Quite frankly, due to the worldly behaviors and activities of some Christians these days it is almost impossible to tell the difference between a Christian and a non-believer. This is a shame. A real shame – in the TRUE sense of the word. And SHAME on the Church for allowing these behaviors to go on unchecked within their walls, so as not to offend someone or to lose their tithe money. It is time to get serious about cleaning up the Church. We cannot expect the secular world to change if those who have been given the Commission to change it aren’t any different than those they are commanded to change. This is a hard thing for a Christian to hear, but it is Truth, and most will admit it. But time is short. Look around. Watch the TV news. How much time do you think is left?
